Adaptation

The ordinary meaning of this word is an ingrained ability in all living beings to change how they live about the circumstances they live in, so they'll survive. In other words, it's the changes made by living things consciously or unconsciously, noticeable or not all in a bid to survive.

The ability to adapt is one that is loved and hated too. I mean, how you lived at the onset of the Covid Pandemic is way different from now. You just switched to using face masks and shields. It certainly wasn't easy at first but now, it's a habit. Don't you just love the fact that no matter how difficult things maybe, you have a chance to survive?

When we then lose our loved ones we hate ourselves for getting used to the fact that they are no longer here with us. We blame ourselves for every smile, laughter, and even the tiniest amount of fun we seem to have. It's not you do that, it's the thing that keeps you alive that kicks in. That ability to stay alive and stay strong.

Maybe it is because sometimes we forget. We forget that we have had tough seasons and that we came out just fine.

I recently rewatched Shawshank Redemption. I watched Mr. Brooks. The man had to be in a prison for a long time. He got used to it. He was released after being there for a long time. Getting to the outside world he realized he couldn't cope with the present reality. He had forgotten that he did cope when he first got to prison. He killed himself and as I watched I felt my heart prick.

I was thinking, "old man with how terrible the prison was you stuck through. You had hope even if it was a little. And you got used to it. Then you did not want to leave because there was no life for you out there. It was what you said. But you forgot. You forgot that you had a life before prison and you can as well have one now."

How many times have we thought that? How many times have we believed we couldn't move on.

The truth is this, you can beat this. You can beat anything. Even death. No matter how much you loved that person you can still move on even if you've forgotten how to live. You can adapt to anything because that thing that makes you adapt is still inside of you. You'll get used to it. Time makes everything better. You can get used to anything. You are a living thing. You are made to adapt.

Dear reader, I just wanted to let you know that you can deal with anything. I know it may be overwhelming at first and sometimes everything you believe in may not seem like they are worth believing anymore but then you'll be fine. God has got you not just anywhere but in the palm of His Hands. So my dear, don't be worried rather cast all your cares upon Him. He'll give you the strength you need to go through.

I believe that God has plans for you. Jeremiah 29:11. He has sorted you out so don't worry you hear. Jesus loves you and He'll do absolutely anything for you.
