The First Day of Christmas; A Patridge in a pear tree

Who is this true love that is sharing gifts up and down? It’s none other than God. Well, in this scenario, we examine the gifts God has given to His church. And the first of the gifts is this patridge in a pear tree.

The patridge bird is remarkable for it's sacrificial instinct. She's that bird that would lay her life down for her young ones. Does this remind you of someone?

The life of Jesus has been documented in the Bible. We learn of his nature and manner. How human he was while on earth. We learn how He was not distant to human feelings. In Hebrews, Jesus is described as The High Priest. He's not just any High Priest, "for we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses..." (Hebrews 4:15, ESV)

Jesus is a gift not because of what He has to offer but because of who He is. He poured His life out as an offering. More than what He has to offer, Jesus is a gift of Grace. It is why He is the most beautiful and beloved being.

Jesus in Himself, not anything else is the most extravagant gift God has to offer. And that's why many Christians all over the world sing with all truthfulness that "Christ is All" or "If all I have is Jesus, I have something more than gold" and one of my personal favourites. "Hallelujah, all I have is Christ, Hallelujah Jesus is my life"

Jesus is the strength of our life. Jesus is our living hope. Jesus is our Peace. Jesus is our Redeemer. Jesus is the light of our lives. Jesus is our Shepherd.

This Christmas, it'll be really good to reflect on the gift of Christ. This gift can not be bought or earned. And that's what makes it all the more important.

Merry Christmas 🎄
