The Eighth Day of Christmas

On the eighth day of Christmas
my true love sent to me:
Eight Maids a Milking
Seven Swans a Swimming
Six Geese a Laying
Five Golden Rings
Four Calling Birds
Three French Hens
Two Turtle Doves
and a Partridge in a Pear Tree

In this our Twelve days story, the eight maids are none other than the beatitudes. Maids occupied and still occupy a very lowly position. Amazingly, God takes cognizance of each of us. Maid or not. And we are all precious in His eyes.

If you ask me, I'll say that God looks for excuses to bless us. And one of the most remarkable of blessings found in the Bible is the Beatitudes. Each has a blessing attached to it. While one part is sad, the other parts of the beatitude promise to bless.

So what does beatitude mean? It means utmost bliss. Yup. You got that right. What did I tell you about God looking for excuses to bless us? Not just any kind of blessing but one that is referred to as utmost bliss. One can say that the Beatitudes are God's compensation to us for some certain things we go through.

Suffering and pain are inevitable in human life. These things make me thank God that the life of man is like a flower or smoke sha anything that doesn't last long. We've all suffered at least once in our lives and that's if we are not even suffering at this moment and I know that no one likes suffering all.

If we look at the beatitudes closely, we will see that Jesus Christ Himself suffered most of those things if not all. He knew how each of them felt. How difficult it was to go through suffering like that and he knew we would also go through it so he assured us that even when we go through these things, we will be rewarded.

The beatitudes show us a path to the ever-loving God who is always there for us.
Merry Christmas to you
